PRIDE of WORKMANSHIP AWARDS
The Pride of Workmanship Awards were instigated by the Rotary Club of Pennant Hills NSW in 1975 and since that time have been adopted by many Rotary Clubs. The Awards are to encourage a sense of community pride in individual achievement.
Our club commenced our involvement in the POW Awards in 2007. We have a presentation night in February each year, and over the 10 years we have presented 66 awards, 24 to employees and 42 to volunteers.
The reason we decided to concentrate on the Aged Care and related industries is that although it is a very large industry in our area, there is very little acknowledgement of the extraordinary jobs that many employees and volunteers are continually doing. This industry touches almost everybody in the community one way or another, most of us will have contact or know someone that is in care.
We invite nominations in 2 categories Employees and Volunteers. There are many worthy volunteers and employees nominated, who don’t win awards, but that in itself says a great deal about the industry.
